The game of roulette is sort of a cultural marker or icon, if you will. It is often used as a Socratic image in film and television to provide an imagistic link in the human brain between it and the world of gambling as a whole. Take a look at any movie or television show that features a casino or underground gambling house. Most likely, there will be a spinning roulette wheel with a ball about to catch in one of the slots.

In the world of online and video gaming, mobile roulette is kind of new, and some of the best places to play mobile roulette online are within the casinos of the Fortune Lounge Group. These casinos include Royal Vegas, Vegas Palms, and 7Sultans, to name a few.

But the physical game has been around for several centuries, most likely tracing its origins back to France and was played mainly by the wealthy elite, and the reason for this is that it has a low probability of winning for the player, but if a win does occur, then it can pay out big.

The way roulette works is undeniably simple. The player will place a bet on either a number or a color, and then the dealer will spin the roulette wheel, and then roll a little ball along the outer perimeter of the wheel. The ball will roll and the wheel will spin. Then, as gravity dictates, with each new rotation around the circumference the ball will eventually sink down further and further to the edge of the spinning roulette wheel.

Once the ball hits the lip of the roulette wheel, it typically bounces around until it is slowed down enough to be caught by a slot within the wheel, and there will be either 37 or 38 slots on each wheel, depending on the type of roulette being played. Bets made by the player, if won, can pay out anywhere from even money to 38 times that of the initial bet. This all depends on the probability of the ball landing on the designated slot.

For instance, if a player makes a color bet rather than a number bet, then the odds of winning are almost fifty/fifty. This is because there are only two colors on a roulette wheel, and besides the one or two zeros on the wheel (again, depending on the type of roulette being played; either single or double zero), there are several slots on the wheel that will mark a win for the player.

Now, a specific number bet, on the other hand, is dramatically more risky. This is because of the 37 or 38 slots on the wheel, there is only going to be one slot that accommodates the player’s bet. Say, for instance, a player bets on a 14 on a double zero wheel. The odds of landing on that specific slot are one in 38. This is, however one thing that makes the game so exciting, because if on the rare chance that the player does win that bet, then the payout is enormous. If the player bet $100 in this example and won, then the payout would be $3,800.
